The minute of the last meeting were agreed as accurate and proposed by C McCulloch, seconded by A Baker.

 

Matters arising

Visitor Levy consultation on Monday 3pm-6pm in C’town Community Centre.

Local Place Plans – these will be legal documents , see email from E Glendinning and pass any ideas to her.

 

  1. Public Questions

J Richardson asked if CCC would support his opposition to the introduction of a Visitor Levy being proposed by Argyll and Bute Council. The majority of CCC were in agreement but this was not unanimous and after lengthy discussion it was agreed that a letter should be sent from CCC to Pippa Milne, Kirsty Flanagan, Jim Lynch, Douglas Hendry. The decision on whether to go ahead will be taken on 20th April.

 

  1. Police Report

V Nimmo welcomed PS K Cairns who gave a full report for February 2025 including the following:

58 calls received resulting in 17 crime reports.

17 drug related seizures ( 4 Class A, 12 Class B, 1 for supply)

5 frauds, mainly online

1 shoplifting, 1 for multiple thefts

54 road traffic offences, 6 drug/drink related

14 assaults, mostly minor but 1 Police assault

4 missing persons, 1 high risk, now in care

1 repeated noise disturbance

 

Police have been on foot patrol in Hall St to stop careless drivers.

A new Youth Engagement Officer has been appointed and will start June/July. Hope to restart Police Scotland Youth Volunteers and help to curb youth disturbances at CGS.

          Staffing situation hampered by difficulty in retaining officers locally once trained.

J Martin asked if drugs problem had grown but PS Cairns replied it was the same. Users are accessing drugs by post, 3 to 4 people are stopped and searched each shift but Police need good grounds to carry this out.

 

V Nimmo asked if the road traffic speed survey requested by CCC to support the installation of speed warning signs at the 3 entrances to C’town had been carried out. PS Cairns agreed to follow this up with A Maguire. M Shaw has been replaced by keith.allison@scotland.police.uk.

 

PS Cairns asked that any intelligence be reported via phoning 101 or emailing Police Scotland.

 

  1. NHS Update

          G Neal gave the following report:

Dialysis – starting on Monday, 17th March in Campbeltown Hospital for patient, 3 days per week staffed by Agency Nurse. Review of provision throughout Argyll and Bute still planned.

Staffing – one new member has been appointed, senior staff nurse post to be advertised soon.

Water testing – media release in local Press – Legionella identified in one sink in area being turned into new X Ray dept. No risk to patients/staff but cautious approach taken, subsequent tests all negative.

  1. Treasurer’s Report

Main account                    £17,242.71 includes £1052 for Quesada Plaque to be refunded to CCWF,  £1500 for afternoon teas, £610.20 for memorial bench for C Duncan.

Quesada account             £1985.20 including sum above

CC Windfarm Fund          £32,619.08 including £10,000 to be transferred to savings account.

 

A Gallacher to take forward online banking for CCC accounts.

 

  1. Correspondence

All correspondence circulated to CCC members.

Resilience – V Nimmo to draft questions re what would be needed, location of hub – Town Hall?

 

  1. AOCB

Jubilee Path – repairs completed.3 people expressed interest in maintenance but only one applied. V Nimmo, A Gallacher and D Allen to decide if other come forward.

Playgrounds refurbishment – still waiting for news on successful tender.

Memorial Bench for C Duncan – been ordered and will be delivered to Ctown Hospital on 27/3/25.

Campbeltown Pharmacy – works going to plan and will be ready to open in April.

VE Celebrations – 8/5/25. Event in Victoria Hall? We will supply afternoon tea boxes. Contact G Rahman.
