  1. Public Questions:

Mr Piers Bird addressed the meeting.

He has noticed that there is nowhere in town where adults can exercise for free. He showed some designs of adult apparatus from Primrose Hill in London and suggested these could be adapted to suit different abilities. The apparatus blends into the background as it is not in primary colours.

The councillors present were asked for suggestions where the apparatus could be sited. Following some discussion, it was suggested that Piers check out The Old Paddling Pool in the first instance.

Piers asked who he should ask for help/permission to pursue the idea. It was suggested that Piers posts his idea on The Wee Toon Community Notice Board on FaceBook to gauge public interest.

  1. Police Report:A report dated up to 15/08/25 had been received electronically. Some of the members could not open parts of the report.
PC Alex Burton said that in Campbeltown there’s nothing immediately pressing that raises concern.
He encouraged the public to speak to the police, drop an email or use Crime-stoppers if they have any information or concerns. Given the correct information the police can act on
The Police Station is open 7am to 6pm, with a closure for lunch.

C McCulloch asked when the next Wind Farm Disbursement is due and highlighted that The Town Walks could do with some funding.  V Nimmo gave the dates.

  1. Correspondence:

All correspondence had been circulated to CCC members.

Tangy Wind Farm has been granted permission to site 16 turbines up to 149.9m tall.  They are consulting on an amendment to 200m tall. These will replace 22 turbines that are 75m tall. No real objections from those present.

Meall Mor Windfarm – V Nimmo has sent off an objection to this. Letter had been circulated previously.

Three Interpretation Boards – C Dobbie has had a quote of £720 for these.

Can the CCC fund these? This will be decided at the next meeting.

Review of Social Care and NHS – Open until 10/10/25 online.

Airport Users Forum – Meeting on 23 September at Officers’ Mess at Airport. C Dobbie and V Nimmo will attend. This meeting is to discuss the usage of the Airport for flights.

MAKI Meeting – A suggestion from A & B Council to reduce the speed limit in towns and villages to 20 mph from 30 mph in A & B Council Areas. Members were not in favour of this.

Discussions –  Rest and Be Thankful. Too many hold-ups at traffic lights.

                                – White Lining. Almost complete in Campbeltown but nothing has been done at Stewarton.

Giant Tree Festival – Happy with suggestion to plant a tree.

  1. Resilience:

At the last meeting it was highlighted by Megan from Inspiralba that we need an Emergency Plan.

V Nimmo met with Eric Spence about starting up an Emergency Hub. Eric agreed to organise a meeting of important parties. V Nimmo will contact Eric to check on progress. Some concerns were expressed about where a generator would be located.

  1. AOCB:

Meeting held recently with the Chief Executive and Provost of A & B Council. This meeting was mainly discussing the Whitehouse Battery Storage Unit.   A & B Planning Dept. came in for a lot of criticism regarding time taken to approve planning applications. It appears that they don’t have enough staff to cover the workload.  However, our Chairperson, V Nimmo, thought that it was eventually a worthwhile meeting permitting members of the public to air their views to the Executive.

Flag Pole at Old Quay. Does it need to be replaced? Contact to be made with Harbour Master.

Meeting closed at  9pm.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING  14/10/25 at 7.30pm in CAMPBELTOWN TOWN HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.
