Minutes of Meeting 12/6/24

Welcome: J Martin welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked Cllr J Kelly for her attendance.

  1. Minutes of last meeting 14/5/24

The minutes were agreed as accurate and proposed by A Baker, seconded by E Glendinning.

  1. Matters arising
  • CCTV cameras – email response from S McLean to Cllr Armour circulated. 2 cameras out of action. New provider of maintenance contract started 1/6/24 will hopefully improve situation.
  • Kintyre Way – report received from J Fulton emailed.
  • Planning concerns – still no reply to letter sent by V Nimmo to K Flanagan.
  • Behaviour on buses – Police and WCM have replied to letter sent by V Nimmo. Both state that unless official complaints are made, no action can be taken.
  • Jubilee Coastal Path- V Nimmo sent her thanks to all who attended opening on 3/6/24. Could be submitted for SURF award, closing date 2/9/24.
  • Burnside Square – email circulated.

E Spence from SKDT unable to attend tonight and will attend next meeting to update on progress with the Community Action Plan including the provision of waste disposal.

         None

  1. Police Report

No report received again.

  1. Councillor’s Report

Cllr Kelly distributed a full written report to members. See attached. Some of the issues discussed included:

  • CGS – there have been further issues causing concerns including pupil contracts, timetabling, support for pupils with additional support needs. Cllr Kelly has had meetings with K Donnelly, Headteacher to discuss these and other issues.

Action: Agreed that letter be sent by C Dobbie to D Hendry and J Crockett, Head of Education.

  • Prohibition of waiting – Bolgam St and Main St – email received on June – giving insufficient notice for businesses in these streets to make arrangements for deliveries. At least 2 weeks notice is required and would be better if such repairs are carried out in winter months.

Action: Cllr Kelly to find out if possible to close one side of street at a time.

  • Burnside Square – Council Officer agreed that rusted planters should be replaced.

CCC members raised the following with Cllr Kelly:

  • New Quay St/ Kilkerran Rd junction – white lines need repainted to show right of way.
  • Parking in Lochend St, Kinloch Rd, Burnbank – often dangerous. Police?
  • Traffic lights on Main St intermittent – already reported by A Baker a month ago.
  1. Treasurer’s Report

Main account          £383.99 (awaiting approx. £15,000 Crown Estates Funding for Jubilee Coastal path).
Quesada                 £510
CCWF                     £139,974.77  (approx. £85,000 received from Scottish Power for 2024). £37,152 was total agreed to be granted to 14 different organisations at last week’s CCWF meeting.
CCC was awarded £1,152 for replacement plaque for Quesada memorial.

  1. Correspondence

All correspondence circulated to members.

  1. AOCB
  • MACC have appointed a new manager. Rep from CCC requested to attend meetings, no volunteers.
  • Damage to Quesada memorial – Fbook post.

Action: A Baker to contact G Powell to secure coping stone.

  • Cancellation of Loganair flights – it was agreed this was happening very frequently, concerns were expressed about availability of aircraft.

Action: C Dobbie to write and request statistics for this.
