Town Centre Traffic management – a new Council Traffic Officer will be in place soon and it is to be hoped this will be reviewed.  Preference would be to allow parking on one side of Longrow South.

Work on refurbishing local playparks has started, hopefully will be finished soon.

Bedding plants for the town are being planted.

Verge cutting is underway – mostly carried out by Council, some by private contractors.

Meeting of Clyde Ferries Users Group today CalMac was criticised for poor communication across routes. Ardrossan to Campbeltown route will hopefully be reinstated next season as new ferries come into service.

A Baker asked Cllr Armour about crossings on A83 in town. Transport Scotland have promised Zebra crossing at Aqualibrium, but no sign. He also requested more signs to remind drivers to drive on LHS of road.

  1. Correspondence

All correspondence circulated to CCC members.

Transport Infrastructure consultation – date already passed but several members of CCC completed individual surveys. It was agreed that a letter should be sent to West Coast Motors re the cessation of local night buses to Machrihanish and Southend asking if they would consider a trial.

G Cosgrove reported that CityLink bus timetables at Glasgow Airport were out of date. CityLink 926 service carries max of 2 bicycles if they are covered unlike other services. Cyclists are discouraged from visiting so letter to be sent to outline these two points.

Response from SKDT re lack of VE celebrations was noted.

  1. Resilience

V Nimmo introduced M Elliot, Project Manager for Household Resilience from Inspiralba. Megan explained her role. She has been working with different communities across Argyll and Bute creating resources for advocates to support households to make them more resilient. She has also been supporting communities to create local emergency plans to cover climate, water, energy, digital breakdown etc events. She highlighted that Campbeltown does not have an emergency plan, although emergency services all have their own plans, and one should be drawn up. This was unanimously agreed and her successor, C de Pena will contact us to take this forward.

V Nimmo thanked Megan for her input.

  1. AOCB

Memorial Bench for C Duncan – has now been installed at Campbeltown Hospital  and contact made with one of her sons to arrange a suitable date. 28 June or 5 July suggested.

CCC was awarded funding to purchase 2 new benches to replace rotten ones in old Paddling Pool area.

A visit by King Charles and Queen Camilla to Campbeltown is planned for 3/7/25.
